Kristine Macasieb: Interior tonals
Hello everyone. Sorry I missed last Tuesday's class. I was at a retreat from Sunday to Wednesday. Here are my lines and tonals so far. The first one is what I originally imagined in my head, but I came to like the 2nd and 3rd ones a little bit more.

Joanna Soohee Han Week 8 HW
Hey guys. I was called for jury duty this past week and was busy with freelance work so all I have for now is a value study. The details in the drawing are lost and haven't been fully rendered out so excuse that.

Kristine Macasieb: Interior thumbs
Here's the progress that I have so far for my first piece.
Here are thumbs for the next project. I chose to do the inside of the castle and so I went back to more byzantine and palace foyer references. Here, the prince meets the princess. However instead of just being a regular princess, I had this idea that she would be the guardian of the water of life. So the first time they meet, they would actually battle.

Kristine Macasieb: Organic Tonal
Here's my black and white painting for an organic environment. I thought more about what could be taking place in this scene and decided that it would be after the prince got the water of life from the castle. He meets up with a shrewd magical dwarf, who has just informed him that his brothers are trapped in a ravine. The youngest prince tries talking the dwarf out of keeping them captive.
I had alot of trouble with the frozen waterfalls in the background. I tried to paint it after these kind of icicle formations but I'm still not very happy with how they came out.

Joanna Soohee Han Week 5 HW
Hi everyone.
For my tonals, I tried to make Alice the main focus point. I played with different lighting situations coming from above the greenery or from the back as if she is leaving the area.

Kristine Macasieb: Organic Landscape - Thumbs
Hi everyone. I only made 4 thumbs because this past weekend was crazy. I wanted to make like six to eight more thumbs, so I'll probably post more online tomorrow.
Top thumbs: In the story, the king falsely believes his youngest son tried to poison him, so he hires the huntsman to assassinate him in the forest. In these scenes, the huntsman either tells him to run away, or the prince is already running away.
Bottom thumbs: I thought it'd be cool if the protagonist had to trek through a frozen waterfall to get to the castle.
Joanna Soohee Han Week 4 HW
I had an extremely busy weekend and I didn't think I'd be able to make it for this class but I tried to come up with some really quick ideas that will ultimately get changed dramatically.
The first one is a take on Alice encountering the singing flowers while the last two are Alice encountering the caterpillar. I think I may like the composition on the third one the most. But I definitely need to change the values around.
Kristine Macasieb: Exterior Architecture BW and Color
From last week, I redid the values from my last piece. I also placed some colors, but I kept it rough because it will probably need changing.
My organic thumbs are on the way.

Kristine Macasieb: Week 2
Hello. I modified my thumbnail choice a bit. I took a bit more inspiration from the Burtchart Gardens in Canada and the Kronstadt Cathedral in Russia. In doing so, I'm not sure if I made the composition more cluttered. I tried arranging a path for the character towards the fountain.
Joanna Soohee Han Week 2 HW
For my tonals, I originally began with what I thought my lighting would look like and then explored with possibilities of more a dramatic look.

Kristine Macasieb: Week 1 Assignment
Hi everyone! The story I picked was the Grimm fairy tale, The Water of Life. I chose to set the story in a fantasy medieval-esque type setting. The story mostly takes place within a steep mountainous and cold region where it's hard to farm land and the terrain is very dangerous. For the thumbnails, I chose the castle in which the youngest prince goes to fetch the water of life. The castle would be based on Neo-Byzantine architecture. My idea for the source of the water of life was that it was an area that the castle encloses. That area would be like a garden, blooming with flora that would otherwise be impossible to grow in such an arid part of the world. I had other ideas of making the secret place look more like a courtyard.
Outside the castle:
Joanna Soohee Han Week 1 HW
Hey guys! I know I'm posting really last minute but I was struggling a bit with ideas and what to do. I'm still pretty unsure of what to do and feel like I can change this idea around a lot. But the initial idea is Alice in Wonderland.
